Year 11 Library Survival Tips

Survival tips to ensure you have a hassle-free experience and get the most out of the services we offer:

1. Get to know your school librarian, Louise Cleary, who can help you find online and print resources for assessment tasks and essays.

2. Improve your information skills by attending library tutorials and by seeking help when you're stuck with not enough information to complete your assignment.

3. Carry your student ID with you because it enables you to borrow books and use the printers and photocopiers on campus.

4. Avoid library fines by telling us your email address, so we can send reminders before your loans are due or by renewing your own loans via "My Library Record" in the library catalogue.

5. Keep your library fines below $20 and you can keep borrowing, plus at the end of the year, we'll make the fines disappear.

Picture Australia, Flickr and Australia Day

Picture Australia, hosted by the National Library of Australia, is a wonderful archive of photos, objects, maps and works of art making it a rich source of local and national history.

You can add your own story to Picture Australia by uploading your pictures to Picture Australia via Flickr. Find instructions on how to do this here.

Why not start with some photos recording your activities on Australia Day, coming up this weekend.

If you're interested in US history, you'll be delighted to know that the Library of Congress has now begun to display some of its vast photographic collection on Flickr.

Welcome to 2008

After a long holiday, it's good to be back at my desk, starting a new year, planning changes and improvements in the library service and looking forward to welcoming new school, TAFE and university students and staff to campus.

May the New Year be bright, prosperous and full of hope for all.
